While not the full Stark family gathering many have hoped for, episode two – Stormborn – will see Arya come face-to-face with her direwolf Nymeria.
The youngest Stark daughter drove Nymeria, then a pup, away back in season one after she bit the then-Prince Joffrey, and fans have been rooting for a reunion ever since.
In the books, Arya communicates with her wolf via dreams and skin-changing, but the show has not yet explored this deeper connection.
Elsewhere, the various players are up in arms over the arrival of Daenerys.
Jon Snow is warned that “a Targaryen can not be trusted” by Yohn Royce of the Vale.
In King’s Landing, Cersei announces, without a hint of irony, that “the Mad King’s daughter will destroy the realm”.
Daenerys herself remains in Dragonstone, where Yara Greyjoy and Ellaria Sand have now joined her war council.
“We have an army, a fleet and three dragons – we should hit King’s Landing now,” Yara says, before a quick shot of her kissing the Sand Snake mother.
