Manchester United complete the signing of Coventry starlet Charlie McCann

Manchester United have completed the signing of Coventry starlet Charlie McCann.

The Red Devils agreed to sign the teenager back in 2016 and they have now wrapped up the deal, according to the Manchester Evening News.

McCann confirmed the switch to his boyhood club on social media, and changed his Twitter profile picture of him putting pen to paper at United’s Carrington HQ.

He wrote: “Happy to sign for Manchester United, a new chapter begins.”

McCann made his England Under-16 debut in a 2-0 win over Uruguay last year, having joined hometown club Coventry at the age of seven.

Coventry academy head Richie Stevens said in September: “When a big football club come knocking, and it is the club that Charlie supports, you must let him go and have that experience. We did not want to sell him, we did not need a fee for him even though there was a fee involved.

“Charlie goes with complete support from me and the rest of the staff from the academy. He has been unbelievable for us, even making his England debut back in August.

“I have spent a lot of time with Charlie and I love the boy to pieces. I also have a lot of time for his family who are incredibly supportive.”
